Porthcawl Jazz on the Sands – 11 April, 2014

Friday 11th – Sunday 13th April

Porthcawl’s annual festival once more delivers a feast of A-List jazz ranging from traditional New Orleans to state of the art Fusion. Headlining this year is Chris Barber, this year celebrating 60 years at the top with the Big Chris Barber Band.

Enjoy also the performances of Italian ace pianist Davide Logiri with his Quintet, the dynamic Cardiff University Big Band, the virtuoso J Word Quintet amongst many more. Friday offers a unique experience: the Rhondda Symphony Orchestra augmented with a driving rhythm section and star soloists. This unlikely proposition really delivers: from awesome power to idyllic warmth.

Please contact the Grand Pavilion box office or visit www.porthcawl-jazz-festival.com for full programme details.

Plough and Harrow Festival – 10th – 11th May 2014

Every year the Plough and Harrow has a summer festival, but this year they have decided to shake things up a bit and have even more fun. So they have invited down (amongst others) the fantastic local band The Blims and the rip roaring, foot stomping musical magicians Mad Dog Mcrea to play the Saturday afternoon and evening slots to get everyone off their feet!

They have introduced some new elements to the event this year including Pentathalon Challenge, Tarp Surfing, Pole Vaulting, Skateboarding, BMX, Free Running, Kick Boxing, Scooter Tricks. Circus Skills, Three Live Music Stages, Singer Songwriters at Bridgend Music Store Stage, DJ Sets and Street Dancing.
